Co-Sell Guide
Expansion Flywheel & Consumption-Led Growth
Build a co-sell expansion flywheel: land production workloads, attribute consumption, plan the next use case, and re-engage hyperscaler sellers with Ali Chehab’s growth loop.
Written by Ali Chehab for ISV and SI teams running Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud co-sell. See also stages, UDL, and the hyperscaler co-sell knowledge graph.
Close is not the end of co-sell
The first closed-won co-sell deal is the start of consumption-led growth. Ali Chehab designs an expansion flywheel: production land, attribution intact, customer outcome proof, next workload plan, and a fresh coverage conversation with the hyperscaler seller. Partners who disappear after close lose seller mindshare for the next cycle.
Expansion needs owners. Delivery owns outcome evidence. Alliance ops owns PAL, ACE, or Partner Advantage updates for expansion opportunities. Sales owns the next use case conversation with the customer executive sponsor.
Consumption signals sellers care about
Hyperscaler sellers track platform consumption and workload growth. Ali Chehab feeds them proof: services adopted, spend trajectory where shareable, and a named expansion opportunity registered in the partner portal. Marketplace renewals and private offer expansions should link to those records.
Without attribution, your influence is invisible. Register expansion pursuits as deliberately as the original deal. Keep IDs linked across CRM and partner systems.
Running the flywheel quarterly
Each quarter, Ali Chehab reviews landed accounts for expansion candidates: adjacent workloads, new business units, and multi-cloud spillover. Prioritize accounts with executive sponsors still engaged and delivery capacity ready. Register only what you can run.
Joint QBRs with hyperscaler partner managers work when you bring expansion pipeline, not only logos. Show stage movement and consumption proof. That is how partners stay on the AE’s short list.
Connect expansion to the rest of the map
Pursuit flow, operating model, and marketplace guides on this site support the flywheel’s registration and transact steps. Stages and motion pages show how expansion re-enters coverage and validation. Ali Chehab shares related practice via the about page, LinkedIn, alichehab.org, and cosellgtm.com.
Consumption-led growth is the compounding return on disciplined first-deal co-sell. Build the flywheel before you need it.
